Pokémon SV's Paldean Wooper Appears In Adorable Manga-Inspired Video

The new Paldean regional variant of Wooper, set to be introduced in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, has been transformed into an adorable manga-inspired animated video. The newest games to the monster collection franchise will take players to the Paldea region, which seems to be based on the Iberian Peninsula countries Spain and Portugal. A recent Pokémon Scarlet and Violet gameplay trailer revealed exciting new information about the upcoming titles, including new regional variants like the lovable Paldean Wooper.

Like previous Pokémon generations, the franchise's ninth generation will kick off with two separate games releasing at once. Scarlet and Violet will share a setting and basic gameplay mechanics, including three brand-new Starter Pokémon, too: the Grass-type cat Sprigatito, the Fire-type crocodile Fuecoco and the Water-type duck Quaxly. However, certain version-exclusive Pokémon will also set the two titles apart. The Legendary Pokémon Koraidon will be the cover mascot for Pokémon Scarlet, while Miraidon will represent Pokémon Violet. Koraidon and Miraidon will even serve as mounts, with different forms used to traverse specific terrain, and Paldean regional forms in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will add even more variety to the experience.

Twitter user pokeyugami recently shared a manga-inspired animation of Paldean Wooper from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet with its normal blue counterpart. While the Water Fish Pokémon is typically a dual Water and Ground-type, in the region of Paldea it becomes a deadlier Poison and Ground-type. Now known as the Poison Fish Pokémon, Pladean Wooper also gains brown coloration and ominous facial structures shaped like crossbones. The adorable video created by pokeyugami shows Paldean Wooper hopping around in a cheerful circle while its normal variant sways idly and their Trainers look on in amusement.

Alongside the new regional variants like Paldean Wooper, Generation Nine will also introduce new Tera Types in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The region of Paldea will introduce a new mechanic called Terastallizing, which grants Pokémon unique abilities in combat if the player gives them a charged Tera Orb. Each Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will possess a different Tera Type, which influences how Tera Orbs effect them. A Pokémon's Tera Type will be separate from their standard Type, leading to an astounding number of monster variants for collectors to find and capture.

Between Tera Types and regional forms, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will add a wide variety of new Pokémon for Trainers to find, battle and train. Paldean Wooper is notably different from the standard Water Fish Pokémon, and pokeyugami has celebrated the adorably poisonous creature with a manga-inspired video. The animation sees Paldean Wooper partying with its standard form, setting up an adorable meeting for fans to recreate in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
